The Semple Products "Crank-em-Up" Spin Feeder System is a spin/broadcast feeder controlled by a programmable control unit, allowing multiple feedings daily, programmable feeding durations, thus allowing you to control both the timing and the amount of feed you distribute. We consider this our best feeder system.

The system consists of two separate units, each of which is sold separately.

"Crank-em-Up" Spin Feeder

The main benefit of the tripod/winch system is the ease and safety in filling the feeder. No more climbing up on the back of a trailer or pickup or scrambling up a ladder with heavy sacks of feed and risking a fall. The drum is held up by a bridle designed to hold the barrel without deforming the top and allows for a regular lid or the addition of a spun metal lid. This feeder is based on a 55-gallon drum with a heavy-duty galvanized internal funnel. A heavy steel base plate is added to attach the motor/spinner plate to the bottom of the barrel. The heavy duty 12 volt motor is enclosed in a 50 cal. ammo can and powers the cupped round spinner plate. This unit is adjustable (up or down) to the heavy steel feed spout welded to the base plate. Legs bolted to the barrel allow it to sit on the ground without damaging the motor assembly during transport or filling. A second 50 cal. ammo can serves as the home of the battery (not included) and timer electronics as well as a platform to hold the solar panel. Our standard unit comes with the HCR timer, which many consider the best unit on the market today. It allows up to four feed times daily and is reliable and very simple to operate. The timer is easily removed for security or ease of changing settings. The wiring between this box and the motor/spinner box is in metal conduit. As with all our feeding systems this unit is painted with our original WWII olive drab oil based flat enamel.

"Crank-em-Up" Winch Tripod (for "Crank-em-Up" Spin Feeder)

The tripod units for this feeder are made from heavy steel channel, oil well drill pipe and utilize ¼ inch diameter galvanized wire rope in the winch and heavy-duty metal pulleys with brass bushings. Three 12 inch long galvanized stakes are included to help secure the tripod legs to the ground. The tripod top is designed to firmly hold the feeder and keep it from swinging around with the wind, holding the solar panel in proper alignment with the sun. For safety’s sake, always remember that no one should be directly under a feeder, especially when it is being raised or lowered. This unit is very heavy and two people are required to set up the tripod.
